Transcending Education – An Exhibition on Theatre Arts Integrated Approach to Learning

‘Transcending Education’—an exhibition on theatre arts integrated approach to learning is being organized—presented by 18 schools under by Ministry of Education Puducherry. This programme directly sprouts from the Theatre Arts in Integral Education (TAIIE) Camp July 2017 and showcases the possibilities of implementing a pragmatic and enjoyable approach to learning and teaching.

The Annual National Youth Camp ‘Hero Warriors’ is being organized by AuroYouth—youth wing of Sri Aurobindo Society—from January 4 to 12, 2018, for those youth of ages between 18 and 28 years, seeking to explore and express themselves, their dreams and possibilities, their capacity for courage and love.

Inner Rhythm – Children’s Camp

Sri Aurobindo Society is organizing a children’s camp “Inner Rhythm” for children between 8 and 12 years of age from November 6 to 12, 2017. Designed primarily to serve as a playground for children where they can find their inner rhythm and learn to lead their lives as independent learners and inclusive human beings, the camp will be held at the Society Hall in Puducherry.

SARVAM Celebrates ‘Joy of Giving’ Festival with Larsen & Toubro, Chennai

On October 6, 2017, a stall was arranged for the rural women of SARVAM to display their handicrafts and products for an exhibition and sale at the Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Financial Services office premises, Chennai, as a part of Daan Utsav (also known as ‘the Joy of Giving’ Festival). At the stall, all the products displayed were prepared by the SARVAM village women themselves.

AuroYouth Camps at Various Centres and Branches

AuroYouth organized camps through the month of September 2017 at various centres and branches some for the youth and others for the mentors and trainers. The aim of these camps is to have the participants get in touch with their inner being in order to be effective leader and a role model, and to channelize their energies towards self-growth based on principles of Integral Yoga as envisioned by the Mother and Sri Aurobindo.

SAFIC Director Conferred with Jaycee ‘Literary Excellence Award’

Dr. Sampadananda Mishra, Director—SAFIC was recently conferred the ‘Literary Excellence Award’ for 2017 by Junior Chamber International, Pondicherry Zone (JCI Pondicherry Metro)—an international citizen network—on October 2, 2017. This award was given to Dr. Mishra in recognition of his significant contribution in the fields of Sanskrit and Indian Culture.

Workshop on Sanskrit Appreciation at Amrita School of Ayurveda

A two-day orientation programme was facilitated by Dr. Sampadananda Mishra, Director, SAFIC, for the first-year students of Amrita School of Ayurveda on September 27 and 28, 2017. The focus of the workshop was to generate lasting interest in Sanskrit and the tradition therein among the students. Around 80 students participated in this programme.

SAFIC Special Lecture Programme

On October 7, 2017, SAFIC organized its Special Lecture Programme with talks by two eminent speakers—Ashok Aklujkar, Professor Emeritus at the British Columbia University, and Pandit Vamadeva Shastri, Padma Bhushan awardee and Founder of the American Institute of Vedic Studies. Professor Ashok Aklujkar spoke on the topic ‘K.D. Sethna’s New Chronology of Ancient India’ and Dr. David Frawley spoke on ‘Vedic Yoga as the Foundation of Later Yoga Traditions’.

SIGNIFICANT DATES

  • Darshan Days

    On these days, there is a collective meditation in the Ashram at 6 am. People can visit Sri Aurobindo's room on all the Darshan days and the Mother's room on every 21 February.

    Besides the mentioned Darshan Days, visit to the Mother’s room is allowed on 17 November and visit to Sri Aurobindo’s room is allowed on 5 December.

  • 1st January
    There is a collective meditation at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in the morning at 6 am along with music specially composed for this occasion.
