Sri Aurobindo Foundation for Integral Management (SAFIM), a unit of Sri Aurobindo Society, conducted a 2-day open workshop on ‘Managing Stress through Inner Poise’ at Society House in Pondicherry, on October 25 and 26, 2013. The workshop was intended to help find meaningful ways and guidance to mitigate the stress and anxiety that we face in almost all aspects of our lives. The aim was to unravel the beautiful inherent inner peace through self-introspection and by identifying the root cause of stress and eradicating it.
Twelve people from all walks of life and different parts of the country, belonging to varying age groups (24–50 years) participated in the workshop, with active involvement in group activities and interactive discussions. The sessions conducted included activities to identify ourselves with nature’s abundance and peace and thereby help us to reconnect and rejuvenate; games which brought about an awareness of one’s emotions and the corresponding turmoil faced daily were some other tools used. The idea was to convey complex, thought-provoking concepts though simple, tangible activities and games which were much appreciated by the participants, as they relieved a lot of pent up sentiments and thoughts.
A practical and simplified approach to the complexities of stress in everyday lives, based on the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, deeply motivated the participants to formulate their own strategies (at the end of the workshop) towards overcoming stress and implementing the learning in their daily life. All the participants went back with a feeling of having positively turned a corner in their lives, deeming themselves stronger and better equipped to deal with stresses and complications in their future.
