‘Governance by Inner Consciousness’ was the title of a national seminar jointly organized by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) and Sri Aurobindo Foundation for Integral Management (SAFIM). The inaugural session commenced with the lighting of a lamp by the honorable guest Sanjay Gupta, Council Member, ICAI, followed by a welcome address. The seminar’s theme was introduced by O. P. Dani, Vice Chairman, SAFIM, and Former President, ICSI. This was followed by inaugural speeches by S. C. Mohanty, Vice President, ICAI; R. Bandyopadhyay, Member, Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Member, SAFIM Advisory Board and Former Secretary, ministry of corporate affairs (MCA); and Chief Guest Justice Ramesh Chandra Lahoti, Chairman, SAFIM Advisory Board and Former Chief Justice of India.
The first technical session—‘Conscious Governance: Need of the Hour—was chaired by Justice Shiv Narayan Dhingra, Member, Competition Commission of India,with panel members being Professor Saikat Sen, Member, SAFIM Governing Board; J. K. Puri, Member, SAFIM Advisory Board, Former President, ICAI and Ex-Chief Advisor Cost, MCA; and T. K. Arun, Editor, The Economic Times, Delhi.
Post the networking launch, the second technical session—‘Role of Values in Governance’ was chaired by Shashi Budhiraja, Management Advisor, SAFIM and paneled by Professor Ashish K. Bhattacharyya, Advisor, Advanced Studies, ICAI; Professor and Head, School of Corporate Governance & Public Policy, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) and Member SAFIM Advisory Board, and P. V. S. Jagan Mohan Rao, Council Member, ICAI & Former President, ICSI.
The final third technical session—‘Creating the Right Environment’—was presided upon by Jitesh Khosia, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Assam, and paneled by A. K. Awasthi, Former Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General of India; Dr. Ashok Haldia, Director, PTC India Financial Services Ltd., Member, SAFIM Governing Board and Former Secretary, ICAI; and Dr. A. G. Agarwal, Former Chairman and Managing Director, Central Electronics Ltd.
The seminar concluded with Nisha Dewan, Joint Secretary, ICAI, and O. P. Dani delivering a vote of thanks. The event concluded successfully with a useful exchange of ideas.
