World Sanskrit Day Celebrations
Dr Sampadananda Mishra was invited as the chief guest and lecturer for the Sanskrit Day celebration function of Ramakrishna Mission Residential College (Autonomous), Narendrapur, Kolkata. At the programme, which was organized on August 17, 2016, Dr Mishra spoke about the value of Sanskrit in current times and the benefits of learning the language. The focus was Sanskrit as a language of consciousness, its scientific nature and the development it causes in memory.
National Seminar on ‘Practical Application of Sanskrit’
On August 18, 2016, Kolkata Sanskrit College organized a national seminar titled ‘Practical Application of Sanskrit’. Dr Sampadananda Mishra, Director, SAFIC, addressed the students to elucidate about the use of Sanskrit in personal growth and its spread through electronic media. He also showed the participants the various multimedia presentations that SAFIC has brought out, including Gita, Chandas, The Wonder That Is Sanskrit, etc.
National Level Meeting of Vande Mataram Library Trust
Vande Mataram Library Trust (VMLT) organized a two-day national-level meeting at The Gnostic Centre, Bijwasan, Delhi. VMLT is a mammoth project to set up an indigenously developed library to generate verified, authentic English translations of almost all the important scriptures available in Sanskrit. This pioneering project would also lay the foundation stone of original Sanskrit works that would enhance the appreciation and cultivation of the Vedic knowledge.
Currently there exists a colossal deficit in our educational system as well as contemporary research about the Vedic evolution and education, which irrefutably is the nucleus of our nation. In due course, with the mobilization of a high-quality, exhaustive literature and grammar productions, this effort would fill the prevailing gap with a continuous outflow in the various educational systems of our country and even the world.
Dr Sampadananda Mishra, Director, SAFIC, is one of the two trustees on VMLT. The aforementioned meeting was held in Delhi on August 20 and 21, 2016, in which 20 scholars from various parts of India had gathered together to discuss about the various projects of VMLT. As a pioneering project, VMLT and SAS have jointly developed the website bhagavadgita.org.in that has all the contents of the multimedia presentation of the Gita CDRom that Sri Aurobindo Society had made. The contents are now available in the form of website and apps on IOS and Google Playstore.
