National Seminar on Sanskrit and Social Media, Delhi
A two-day seminar on ‘Sanskrit in Social Media’ was organized by Bharatiya Samskrita Patrakara Sangha on December 10–11, 2015, at Akshardham Mandir, New Delhi. Dr. Sampadananda Mishra, Director, SAFIC was invited as one of the keynote speakers at the inaugural session of the Seminar. In his speech, Dr Mishra highlighted the importance of Sanskrit and the need to maintain the purity of the language while promoting it through any social media platform. He also suggested that all Sanskrit media must dedicate a section for children and young adults to popularize the language among the future generations.
In another session Dr. Mishra emphasized on preparing tools using modern computational techniques and user interfaces to make Sanskrit easier to study.
BALAKAVITA PATHOTSAVA—POETS’ MEET
The second Poets’ Meet for Children—BALAKAVITA PATHOTSAVA—was organized on December 10, 2015, by Samskrita Balasahitya Parishad. This special programme to propagate children’s literature was arranged as a part of a two-day seminar on ‘Sanskrit in Social Media’, in which the poets were asked to recite only children’s poems composed by them.
Padma Shri Ramakanta Shukla, General Secretary, Devavani Parishad, New Delhi, presided over the programme and Dr. Jeet Ram Bhatt, Director, Delhi Sanskrit Academy was the Chief Guest. The programme was facilitated by Dr. Sampadananda Mishra, Director, SAFIC, and the founder of Samskrita Balasahitya Parishad.
The special attraction of this poet’s meet was recital of self-compositions by a few children. The whole programme was extremely enjoyable. Dr. Buddhadev Sharma’s poem ‘Taata Nayatu Maam Nainiitaalam’ of was selected as the best poem by the Parishad. Special prizes were given to the children poets.
Sri Aurobindo Society Annual State Conference of Andhra Pradesh and Telengana
Dr. Mishra was invited to address the Sri Aurobindo Society Annual State Conference of Andhra Pradesh and Telengana organized on December 19 and 20, 2015, at Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. On December 19, Dr. Mishra spoke on the power of self-giving in the light of Gita and on Integral Yoga. On December 20 a session on various facets of Indian culture was organized.
Essence of the Upanishads: Research Camp at SACAR
From December 26 to 30, 2015, a research camp on ‘Essence of the Upanishads’ was organized by SAFIC in collaboration with Sri Aurobindo Centre for Advanced Research (SACAR
) at Puducherry. Eighteen selected participants attended the nine in-depth sessions on the Upanishads, the venerated ancient scriptures of India. The other notable speakers at the camp were Dr. Anand Reddy, Dr. Alok Pandey and Richard Hartz.
